hi i was wondering how could you dye your hair without using peroxide or bleach. my hair is naturally black and i'm trying to get it purple(or red)-tinted-black(if you can imagine that color!). i've tried unsuccessfully one time but it only looked mauve in bright light. does anyone know a product or hair color that will change my tone? i've heard lemon juice could work. but if someone could please help me with this it would help me heaps

The only way to successfully lighten hair is to use a bleach of sorts. Of course not all are super strong but the stronger the bleach, the lighter your hair will go. Nothing else will work to lighten the hair and to get an intense colour such as purple, you have to put it on pre-lightened hair. The lighter it is, the brighter your colour will be although you may not need to go too far to achieve the colour you want.

I think you will have to either dye it or just let it grow out. I have heard other things like using lemon juice can lighten your hair, but no idea if it is true. Depending on the dye used it may fade a little, but probably not by very much. Using anti-dandruff shampoo will have no effect.

Lemon Juice will change highlites. Spray it on and sit in the sun. Otherwise my daughter has very dark brown hair and when she changes the color (purple, red....) she has to bleach it out first.

If I were you, I would consult a professional or if there is a local beauty school, go there. I wouldn't do anything to black hair without getting advice from someone who does hair for a living.

Why would you want to touch your hair.....black hair is beautiful and rare.If you use lemon juice it will just dull your hair out...leave it alone or go to a salon and ask them about "cellophanes"...a hair product that adds a hint of color and plenty of shine to your hair........

oh yeah i heard if u put lemon juice in ur hair n sit for about half an hour in the
sun ur hair will shade color.
then u can also opt for blonde shades if u wish ...
then tumeric also is applied in the hair gives it a blonde finish...

i had dark brown hair.. almost black and i put "Sun In Super with Lemon" in it and you go out in the sun. ..mine has gotten so light im actually thinking of dieing back to my original colour! Good Luck :)

Auburne, will have to use a permenant color. Want Blonde or much lighter, sorry, you'll need the peroxide.
