For the same reason that men believe that attraction to a woman comes from how their d*ck feels. :) You're right. It really all does start in the brain but we like to romanticize things so we move the emotions around.

A quick one for you. Where is the soul located? Most people, assuming they buy into the religious bit, whould point to somewhere inside their chest. But no one has ever found anything there. It must be in the brain too.

Becuase, you feel the heart beating fast.. you feel the blood pumping... you miss a beat.... these are the physical reactions to a stimulus... the signals are processed in the brain.. but the reaction happens elsewhere... ( you don't feel it happning in your brain do you ) So, people believe that the feeling comes from their heart.
