Pay no attention to these "hunters" who don't want you to enjoy a nice day in the field...A .50 BMG would be the perfect choice for a day of jumping rabbits...I recommend the Barrett Model 82A1, it's a little heavy, 34lbs or so but after a few days you'll get used to it...Don't forget to carry plenty of ammo for the day, 200 rounds in clips should be just about right...Have a nice day :)< ...

Not if you are talking black powder. However, if you are talking a 50 caliber centerfire, I wouldn't. It would tear up whatever you are shooting so bad there'd be nothing left. Would be a waste. I always eat what I hunt, and people that hunt just to kill something or see how bad they can tear stuff up make me sick. They are killers, not hunters

Depends on what you're hunting. Rabbit and squirrel..... too big. Elephant, cape horn buffalo, etc. it might be marginal. By the way..... are you talking .50 cal muzzle loader or .50 bmg? Makes a big difference.

If you are talking .50BMG It is a bit of an overkill for most large game in the US. If you want to drop an Elephant or a Rhino well maybe.

However I shoot blackpowder and a 50caliber ball is a very good choice for many things.. Does well on Mule or White Tail deer.

The BMG is a fun gun to shoot, I've a buddy that has one, he shoots paper, prairie dogs, and coyotes with it... Pretty expensive cartridges for varmints and paper in my book.

Depends?? First what are you shooting? .50 cal covers a lot of rounds. .50 BMG, .50 AE, .500S&W, .50 blackpower ball, etc.
Next, what are you shooting at & how far? Till you give me more detail, I can't answer the question.

Not for squrrels anyway. For elephants I prefer an RPG. Check out my 360 blog entry from about 4 days ago. You will know which one I am talking about when you see the picture...

if anything, it is to small. i prefer machine guns. although they are more costly, and use more bullets adding to the costs, there really is nothing like sinking a round of bullets into a kangaroo (those animals are so lazy)
