You are right in that religion all have the Bible so in reality there should be a lot more agreement amongst Christians but there isn't, the reason being that having the Bible available to you does not mean that you will follow it! And if people are not following what the Bible says can they really be called christianThere are a lot of people even those who say they are Christian who even have a Bible on their Bookshelf yet do not know what it says about certain matters. If A person does not know what the Bible says how can they possibly say that they follow it? But then you cannot blame the Bible for what those type of people do, that is not fair to do since not everyone does what the Bible says if they did there would not be so much hatred in this world the Bible is against such thingsit discourages racism political involvement and killing ones brother or sister! Different beliefs come from firstly people turning the Bible around to suit their ways and secondly from the devil and his demons (wicked spirit persons) misleading the masess(Revelation12:9)

First the biblical texts don't have contridictions. The apparent contridictions are because different parts of the Bible were written for different people, for different purposes at a given time. The Old Testament was written mainly for the Jews during the time they became a nation and afterwards. The New Testament was written for followers of Jesus and some if fulfills and superceeds the Old Testament.

Modern Christians are only human and sometimes misunderstand the meaning of a passage of the Bible and use it incorrectly.

In order to understand a passage the Bible we must ask who was the passage written for, what was the culture at the time, and many other questions to understand it correctly.

As much as I disagree with Catholicism (I am an ex-catholic) -- there is a certain consistency in their teachings. They follow the New Testament as well as that which logically follows from the New Testament.

Most Protestant erligions follow a version of the Bible that is poorly translated and missing several books (The Catholic canon is unchanged since the Council of Rom in the fourth century -- but Protestants are missing several books because Martin Luther decided that they were not inspired by God).

Men created the Protestant Religions. Most Protestants are incredibly ignorant about the history of their religion, the history of the Bible and the tenets of their own religions. They blindly believe what they are told.

Yesterday I saw someone on this site say that she was a "KJV Onlyist." A little bit of study would show the inconsistencies in the KJV (for example, the original Greek never refers to siblings of Jesus -- that is a KJV construct -- nor does it imply that Joseph and Mary had sex after Jesus was born -- another KJV translation problem) -- yet she believes that this book that was translated by Anglicans is the holy word of God -- as is.

It is very sad, indeed.

Because Christianity is such a mass religion, there are more people who will believe it more or less. There will never be a single human being who thinks exactly the same thing as another human, and so comes the different tales of Jesus Christ and what not. Tales and stories have been told since the dawn of speech, and even before then tales were told by pictures. Humanity is a changing mammal species, and with ever-growing change, there will always be different beliefs.

All religion is man made it all makes the same claim that it comes from God. This claim is partially true but people can never stand to leave Gods word alone. This is because god’s word is consistent and does not mesh well with their personal preconceptions and bigoted ideas. So they make little changes here and there injecting their thoughts into the mix tainting the word with nonsense. For this reason you should not put much faith in these ideas about god that come from others. If God wants to tell you something He is perfectly capable of telling you directly.

Maybe you should stop reading what other people say about God and ask him to tell you what he wants you to do directly. Stop reading; clear you mind and listen. When you pray get you’re talking over as soon as possible and listen. He is trying to talk to you but your mind is full of nonsense from the bible and other sources. Don’t be surprised if what you hear does not sound much like what you have been told about God. You will be hearing Gods message minus the nonsense.

In your bible study have you ever heard of the small still voice? You can't hear it if your mind is otherwise occupied with other people’s silly ideas about God. Just try it you will be surprised

Being lazy causes man to read only a short segment of the bible and draw a conclusion.

The bible was meant to be accepted as a whole and not broken down into specific phrases.

by doing these things, you lose the context in which the texts were written and it appears as a contradiction.

it is not the fault of the bible, it is the fault of the reader

the choice of believing is yours to make, belief in Christ is a leap of faith, you own free will.

NO ONE ELSE has the right to make that decission for you and NO ONE ELSE can ever say or do anything to change it once you have made your choice

It relies upon on the form you define psychiatric ailment. and actual, it fairly is attainable for those ideals to be seen psychiatric ailments. here is the definition from Wikipedia: "A psychological sickness or psychological ailment is a psychological development or anomaly, probably contemplated in habit, that's extra often than not linked with misery or incapacity, and which isn't seen element of regular progression in a guy or woman's custom. psychological subjects are frequently defined with the aid of a mix of ways a guy or woman feels, acts, thinks or perceives. this could be linked with particular areas or purposes of the ideas or relax of the demanding device, usually in a social context." In a hypothetical: we'd say that a guy or woman who believes extraterrestrial beings, ghosts, and so on. are out to get them has a psychological incapacity. For some reason, they're paranoid and delusional. Now for the sake of argument, enable's say there's no God. In a international the place every person yet some human beings comprehend God isn't actual, people who do have self belief in this imaginary entity, who comes down from the heavens to grant them eternal life, would be seen delusional--mentally unwell. So hypothetically sure, it fairly is attainable. that's actual a great question; it have been given me questioning, that's what great questions do. thank you.

That's a good question. I just thought they need to intrepet the bible and when all are in agreement that there aren't any, ahem, contradictions and it fits well into the religious guidelines or whatnot, then it's made official.

But I'm not Chrisitan... well... I'm a different form of Christian, so I'm not sure how... Christianity works exactly, lol. I can't explain the variations within the religion other than my little thought.

The Bible is to be the only "manual" for christians: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). The Bible shows the path to salvation. It tells us what we are, where we come from and where are we going to. And what is most important: it shows us the Person who makes all this possible: "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me" (John 5:39).

I think the problem is that sometimes we want the Bible to fit in our life style or beliefs instead of letting our life style and beliefs fit in what the Bible says. In Isaiah 4:1, there's what seems to be a parable which contains a prophecy. It says, "In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, "We will eat our own food and provide our own clothes; only let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!". This verse seems to be propheticizing the churches in our time. I once heard a pastor who interpreted it in this way: in prophecy, women are used to represent churches or nations. The man the women took hold of seems to be Jesus. John 6:35 says, "I am the bread of life"; and the grace and righteousness Jesus offers us is often represented in the Bible as a cloth (read Zechariah 3:1-7; Matthew 22:1-14). So what it seems to be happening in Isaiah 4:1, is that many churches would take hold of Jesus and ask him to have only His name, the name of christians; but they would not be fed from His Word either wear His clothes of righteousness, only His name, that's all they want.

I've only heard once or twice the interpretation of this Bible verse but it seems to fit in perfectly with the way many churches are today.

God bless you, and let's remember to pray --before opening the Bible-- for the Holy Spirit to guide us and help us understand what He meant. After all, He's the one who inspired the Bible. Such an awsome Book could not have being done in other way.

People need to believe in a higher power that created existence, if not we would all go crazy pondering why we're actually here.
However we cannot institutionalise everybody, the old testament of the bible is a bunch of scrolls written thousands of years ago and are nothing but fables and stories with morals, probably to help inspire children to be good and creative.
