I wonder who the first person was to go into the Religion and Spirituality section and start the religious bashing. Who was the first person you saw do this?

I don't think so much it was one person. Put a general religion catagory up that covers all types of religion, and people of different beliefs start to mix and are forced to read other peoples opinions they don't like. One person posts a simple question, not demeaning to any other religion, and hordes of people who disagree completely are bound to answer negatively, not just one person.

There is no 'bashing'.

If a religion or say two (Christianity and Islam) think that they can have an influence on domestic laws, world politics, abortion, marriage, sex etc, then anyone who does not believe is well within their rights to question the basis of such peoples' beliefs, and also why they think they have a right to control or influence our lives.

Also, if anyone is offended, I would suggest that their faith is either false or not strong. Many true believers have answered my awkward and difficult questions in a good spirit. Many sheep have wowed me with their idiocy.

Enjoy, and be glad that there are forums where we can actually discuss this type of stuff!

There is bashing going on all over the world about a lot of things. This is a microcosm of that. If the person who was first didn't do it, the next person would be the first, and on. What would you do if you found out? Blame that person for the whole thing?

Perhaps if people put across their beliefs in a civilised way for discussion/Q & A, that would avoid the "bashing" manner in which some of the questions are answered. Everyone here believes their religion is the true one, but I don't think throwing verbal missiles at people is part of any of them!

Then it is the Atheist view that you are at war with something that does not exist?Where is the logic in that. You claim that theists are ignorant yet you would argue with one you consider lacking in intelligence.By logic this is a lost cause as your opponent is never going to understand. This tends toward the assumption that Atheists are in fact less intelligent because they engage in a wasted pursuit against a hopeless foe.
