Suppose a girl calls "fofo" to a guy, this is a compliment.
If a girl calls "tarado" to a guy, this means he is in trouble.

When a girl wants a sweet way to describe a guy to another girl saying he is nice, friendly, polite, she says he is “fofo”, or if she is already liking him a lot, “fofinho” diminutive of “fofo”.
If “fofo” is used to describe an object, it means it is flaccid, spongy.

When a girl wants a distrustful way to describe a guy to another girl saying he is trivial, pervert, rude, not gentleman, bad manners, only thinking in sex, she says he is “tarado”, incomplete sentence of “tarado sexual”.

Some examples:
“Ele é tão fofinho, não achas?” – He is so lovely, don’t you agree?
“Não gosto dele, parece um tarado!” – I don’t like him, he seems like a pervert.
