the best way to relax is to put on quiet music and either lie down or sit in a comfortable chair. close your eyes and take a deep breath in then a long breath out/. doing this will slow your breathing down and help you to relax. next think of standing at a cliff top looking down to a deserted beach of white sand and deep blue sea. at the side of the cliff there are steps. imagining walking down the steps slowly one step at a time. as you go down the steps feel parts of your body lying against the chair/bed. keep breathing in with long breaths and out with long breaths. count down ten steps till you reach the sand. feel the sand under your feet. you see a deckchair next to the water. walk over to it and sit facing the sea and watching the ocean come in and out. and take it from there

I've tried yoga and meditation and it just doesn't work for me.

I find it best to have relaxing warm shower, put on clean snug clothes and just have a lay down in a darkened room.

Just chill out and try not to think about anything and you'll soon be feeling refreshed.

However, if you're anything like me, get all your jobs done first, otherwise I lay there thinking about all the stuff I have to do!

For me, it is swimming. When I start doing my laps, my brain feels like a disaster zone; full of tumbling fears and screaming questions. After the first three laps, a lot of those intruders have fallen out and drowned. Towards the end of my routine, only 2 or 3 of the most important issues are left tumbling around. And when I have finished, they are all in their right place, sorted out and prioritized and all the clutter is left in the pool. Wish I had my own pool!

For me, I just build a very clear mental image - a dark room, a candle stick, with a single, tall, white candle. Which is lighted. And its flame is straight and sure. I concentrate on the image for a few minutes, or half an hour, and then I'm ready to do what it takes.

A long hot bath with some one to bathe you. Then dry you off, have body lotion rubbed all over you, then massaged to sleep. Any request you have to be answered for a whole weekend. You in control of your relaxation, a Princess in your own Castle

You will need to try out a few things before you find something that works for you - Yoga / meditation, hot baths by candle-light, jogging/walking whilst listening to music, swimming, saunas and steam rooms, and if in doubt, I find that sex is always a winner !
