High blood pressure or hypertension is not caused by eating salt. Healthy adults cannot make changes in their pressure by adding or eliminating salt. However, if you do have high blood pressure reducing salt intake can help lower your pressure since salt can cause you to retain fluids. This is also true of aspirin. Unless you are prescribed an aspirin daily because it is indicated you do not need to take any to "help" your heart. Many times the causes of high blood pressure are unknown and a combination of treatments will lower it. By the way high blood pressure is not when the heart beats faster and a fast heart rate will not cause it.
