A women with 2 kids works her butt off to make ends meet. She got herself of of welfare and got rid of bum husband.

She gets a ticket for driving without insurance. Her license is suspended for 90 days. Plus fine.

Man gets a DUI (first, but has 8 total from the past). He has no insurance or drivers license (suspended from DUI more than 5 years ago). He gets license suspended for 90 days plus fine.

The man can get a hardship license after 30 days. The women can't (not even if she gets insurance).

The women has never had a drink in her life or any kind of a criminal record. She can't get a hardship license to drive to work but the drunk can get back on the road after 30 days.

She lost a very good job and had to get back on welfare. I know that she shouldn't of been driving without insurance. That is not the point of my question.

Is it fair to let a drunk back on the road, who is a serious danger. While women is kept off the road just because she is poor?

It makes no difference between a man and a women. I just used this to keep the question straight.

Neither of them had an attorney. This is the same sentance that people with attorneys get.

I'm from another state and I couldn't believe the laws here in Ky. It seems that this is a commonwealth and they are really screwed up.

That is a crock of you know what. If that really is the case, the law should be changed right away. Good question.

You have to be leaving something out.. like did he have an attorney and she didnt?

That is messed up though... flat wrong.

In my state, you lose our license for a year if caught driving without insurance.

You do know why these laws are like this right? About 10+ years ago the insurance companies lobbied all the state governors to pass these strict laws. It's all about them making more money.
