Its for a public speaking class, while I'm sure I can fit into the time limit, i still have to research certain newspaper archives and such to gather info, do the outline, rehearse with note cards etc.
Any suggestions besides don't procrastinate in the future?

Take a topic which interests you and narrow it down since you don't have time to read a lot on something general like crime in your city.

If you look at today's paper or yesterday's you can pick out something interesting and then find more on the Internet or start with the Internet and look at the newspaper or even a book.

You might do something about a crime that just took place and even get some info from the TV. Or pick out a specific environmental issue which is in the news or even some sports controversy if that is allowed.

i always find doing it on a topic you are passionate about it makes it not feel so much like work, do it on something you like/ are passionate about.

i wouldnt know any local issues for you, since i live on the other side of the world, you could always do the israli/ Lebanon thingy though.

Oh yeah, and leaving it up to the last minute doesnt help either, im the Queen of procrastination, you regret it, especially when u have to pull an all nighter before its due in.

Talk about globalization and how it affects your area eg. oil prices and the gas pump, the environment, multi-cultural society. Look at it from the "how far we've come" point of view.
