Believe it or not, the answer is "yes". I believe his father was in the British Army (though I haven't been able to verify that), but Marley's bio on All-Music Guide does confirm that Marley's father was a middle-aged white man. (I also watched one of the biographical films on Marley some time ago, and it too confirmed that Marley's father was white.)

Yes, his father was an English military officer who did not marry Robert Nesta Marley's mother. (I think he was married to someone else). Bob Marley was, indeed, half white. There are various biography books on Bob Marley that will tell you the full name of his father, which I think was Marley. I think his mom's name was Cecilia, if I remember right. Bob Marley was (and is) my favorite musician. I got to see one of his last concerts, at Oakland Arena, Oakland, CA. In all the concerts (100s) I have been to, this was the most beautiful, powerful heart touching live music I have ever heard. When we were outside the concert after it was over, I said, "If we could only go to a Bob Marley concert every week, everything would be alright in the world." John Lennon was killed in October, and Bob Marley died the next March. I had a very hard time going on living after these beautifully gifted musicians tragically died, within months of each other. It really was a depressing time for all the music lovers who loved them, but their music lives on to this day.
