Everything will disappear one day, but love will remain forever:

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left.

Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat." Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go with you." "Oh....Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her!

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went his own way.

Love realizing how much he owed the elder and asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because, only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

First let's clarify one point. If by peace you mean an absence of war and conflict, there ain't no such thing. So, my response considers peace to be "Inner Peace," or "Peace of Mind."

Sure, a human being can live without any or all of those things. It wouldn't be much of a life, but it could be done, so the conclusion is that none of them are a must. On the other hand, though, they're not really luxuries either. They're more like staples. They're each and every one something that the being craves, just as the body does certain readily available but non vital nutrients. In short, if you don't have them you won't die, but they're all withing reach and life's a lot more comfortable and fulfilling if you do.

kukuy 2000 was probably just trying to be funny, but such a calloused, casual response is indicative of the kind of crass society we live in these days. The media and the movie studios have convinced us that sex and money is everything.
The most important values we can have are those of true love, an exclusive sexual commitment, strong friendships, and lasting peace with ourselves and our world.
Without all those things, life becomes less luxurious.
Look around you and see how many people lead wretched lives of self-destruction all because they're 'searching' for the wrong things. Money can't buy you love. Raw sex won't bring you any self-respect. Cheating, stealing from, and lying to people won't create friendships. Hatred, bigotry and war won't make peace.

They are all 'sine qua non' ... essentials to the continuance of life on this planet. Love is the most important, from which all things must follow.

Anyone who answers differently seriously needs to understand what love is - and anyone who says that everything else but sex is a luxury needs to go back to the zoo they escaped from.

"All you need is love..."

Peace comes with love, friendship comes with love... and sex is away of expressing love.

Love isn't the most important thing... but if love exists then all the others are made into possibilities.
