Could it be possible that you have an allergic reaction to the sanitary protection you wear, some people do get a reaction from towel/Tampax that makes them itch terrible, you could have a word with the doctor who will be able to suggest something to stop the itch or try a chemist like Lloyd's pharmacy or the one in Asda who are really good at advice on feminine itching and can offer different types of sanitary protection, good luck.

It could be down to what menstrual option you use.
Your vagina has a natural PH that keeps bacteria and yeast balanced, if this PH is effected this can cause infections such as thrush that would cause itching even if it only mild and temporary. Menstrual blood is a different PH to your vaginas natural environment and as such it can trigger off infections if you already have underlying problems with bacterial and yeast balance.
Add tampons to the equation this will further the problem, thus why commercial tampons are the most harmful out of over 20 different menstrual options. Tampons themselves give bacteria a pores area filled with nutritious menstrual blood to multiply as well as prevents your vagina from cleaning itself out as it would naturally – as tampons are dry and being inserted into a moist delicate area they can also cause vaginal splitting and general irritation. In the case of commercial tampons, such as Tampax, these also contain materials that further encourage bacterial and yeast growth and because these are unnecessarily treated and bleached they contain chemicals that can again raise the risk of infection as well as cause irritation.
Commercial pads such as always will also add to the problem because they are made from plastics and synthetics that prevent air getting to the vagina, as such giving a warm moist area for yeast – again these also contain unnecessary chemicals and bleach that can cause infection and irritation.
If you use these options it may be a good idea to change to a safe option such as cloth pads, organic pads, free-flow methods or menstrual cups, not only could this reduce any irritation but they are also far safer options and far more environmentally and even purse friendly.
I would treat it as you would thrush but rather than just treat the itching actually take action to improve your vaginal health – using the pro-biotic yogurt method should help out a lot, as would actually eating pro-biotic yogurt. Identifying the cause of any infections is very important because obviously this is a re-occurring problem, a trip to the doctors may also be in order as constant infections can be sign of something more serious.

if you use towels it could be because you are getting hot down there, and it is causing a mild form of thrush, it might be an idea to see to the doctor, if not at the first opportunity when off make sure you air it if you know what i mean sleep naked or something and have a bath with nothing to strongly perfumed in it. You can also use canestan cream which you can buy in the pharmacy.

I'd say it's possibly just the blood drying around the area if you like. Blood sort of "hardens" when it dries (if you've ever left a small cut to bleed for a while the blood around the wound dries and flakes). And yes it's irritable. I suggest you keep yourself as clean as you can. I would also advise against very tight (nylon in particular) underwear too. You can get nice cotton knickers (I've never had any complaints, and all of mine are cotton!). Hope this helps.

you need to wash more and change your pad or tampon more. Not saying that you are not tidy just that some of us are more sensitive to it than others. You also might want to get a perineal irrigation bottle (you can get one at a medical supply store) and you can keep that in the bathroom with distilled water and a few drops of tea tree oil in it. Then every time you use the bathroom you can wash with that and it will keep you very clean.

The area becomes very sensitive during your period. Make sure you wear 100% cotton underwear to help reduce the irratation. Hope this helped :)

you mite be allergic to your sanitary protection or you might have another issue on your hands. there could be so many reasons. i'd start by trying something else. i personally use tampons, but perhaps try some other brand. there are plenty of feminine protection : sanitary napkins n tampons that are more naturally based....check them out!!

I have not heard about this kind of sympthoms during your period. What are you using during your period, tampons? You might be allergic to it.
Only a microbioligical test can show if there's something- it's easy and painless.
