The only ones who are happy with the current situation are Gordon "bleed them till they drop" Brown and the Petrol companies. They will all ring their hands and say that they are controlled by the price of crude oil, but Brown must have raked in billions in extra revenue that he could never have forecast that he would get, so he could very easily give some back, but of course he blames the oil companies. It is true that they are drowning in an ocean of cash ( see the recent results from Shell) and they could also afford to drop prices. I think they must have a "gentlemen's agreement " not to start a price war. I have a question of my own. Why is it that Britain is just about the only country where diesel is more expensive than petrol? You will find the answer somewhere above.

Fuel is not expensive it's cheap. How much does a litre of petrol cost compared to a litre of beer? Which one do you think is more expensive to produce?

The problem is that your car uses loads and loads of the stuff, because when you go places, you're also accelerating a 1-2 tonne blob about the size of a whale.

The truck drivers won't have another strike because of measures introduced by the secretary of state after the last strike.

People mentality should change regarding the hike/reducing the prices.

Prices hiking and reducing based on the current market. When you are earning much you are not asking any questions. If not you started blaming others. This is too bad.

Be balanced mind.

Why truck drivers should go for strike. if fuel prices hikes they are also going to hike their rental prices. At last affecting person is you only. You are the right person for do strikes against anybody.

Cos there's less crude oil around to make fuel for cars. Anyways if the truck drivers go on strike and not deliver any fuel the prices will rise even higher so don't complain

The actual pertol price we pay in the UK, that is the amount that goes to the petrol company is cheaper than anywhere else in Europe.

Unfortunately, the government then tax the petrol at about 70% per litre so we end up paying more than most other countries in the world. All the real cash is going to the government!!!!!!

Petrol is so expensive due to the fact that the middle east is a very unstable place at the moment and that is where most of the oil comes from that makes petrol.

The cost of a barrel of crude oil is at a record high because of this and because the cost of the raw material to make petrol is high then the price of petrol is high.

Fuel is expensive because of the source which all ties back to your president George W Bush. That is the main reason wht we are quote unquote at war right now. He is getting so much money from oil that the gas prices sky rocket so he can get as much money as he can before he leaves office.

there is no use in getting involved in strike, it generally like this when there is huge demand for a product the prices shoots up, the case here is involved with taxes also, if govt can wavie the percentage of tax added we can enjoy a better price.

but i feel it should be more, cos neccessecity makes to invent alternative fuels / any other source of power for transportation to save the planet for our furture generations.

Prices have increased because of the increase in the price of crude oil (that is because of increasing demand and trouble in the middle east). However, it is so expensive because of the massive amount of tax added by the UK Government
