Just because someone has talent (be it acting, singing, dancing, whatever...) doesn't mean that their opinion is more or less valuable than anyone elses - it just means they have a bigger platform on which to spout their views, thus reaching a much larger audience. It's important to keep in mind that when a "celebrity" takes a stand on a controversial topic, they risk alienating a portion of their fan base. That's exactly what happened with the Dixie Chicks.

Of course they have a right to their opinions and point of view - and they have the right to express those opinions publicly, BUT... they must also be willing to accept the consequences of their actions and accept the loss of revenue and the decline in popularity that may or may not result.

The Dixie Chicks have every right to say how they feel about any topic they choose, just like I have every right not to listen to their material or purchase their albums because I disagree with their political agenda.

Yeah well.....you wanna know why the song you like is getting airplay on VH1? Because the Chixie ***** have sold out to the pop music market because they can't sell albums to the country music market anymore! And yes, the people that bash them may be a lot of rednecks, but those people are who they built their fan base on! You ever listen to their music before this album? Definitely appealing to the so-called redneck audience, and before Bigmouth Maines joined the group they were a bluegrass band! And don't get me wrong, I hate what G.W. is doing to our country and have never supported him, but you don't go to England, where people bash America anyway, and say something just because you think it will make you look good! The Chixie ***** are total sellouts, or at least Natalie Mains is! I really feel sorry for the other two because i think they are really very talented musicians, but the little bigmouth they hired to sing for them went too far! Did anyone ever see the episode of "Late Night with Bill Mahrer" where Woody Harrelson cut Natalie down? She was on there ranting about how bad pot was, ranting on and on, and finally Woody asked her, "have you ever tried pot?" and all she could say was "well........no!" It was hilarious! She never uttered another word the rest of the show! Too bad for these girls......they cut their own throat! Now take them off VH1, sellouts don't belong there!

The dixie chicas have the right to babble as they wish, and we in turn have the right to not spend our hard earned dollars on violin tinged propaganda. So it works out nicely. WOW, the music industry/hollywood sure attracts a whole lot of politcal scientists.
It's just not fair, all that singing and acting talent......bazillions of dollars and to top it off they come out of the womb experts on socail, economic, relegious and foreign policy. I am but a humble honest and obviously ignorant hard working american. Thank goodness I have them as a beacon in this murky political world. VIVA LAS DIXIE CHICAS! I pray thy fidel continues to mold us.

I dont support anyone who bashes the USA or my President, its unpatriotic & if you dont like it here simply leave...We all agree to disagree about government issues, but when your famous & can influence thoughts of others your opinion is best to leave private, not in a song or interview..I admit they do have talent but they were risking their careers by saying what they did,& whatever may come to them they can only blame themselves in the long run..

Like Larry the Cable Guy said"They are pretty girls and all but that little fat one needs to keep her mouth shut" Personally I hope their career goes straight down the toilet.
