My understanding would be that in a studio apartment the bedroom and living room are the SAME room. You sleep in the living room, in other words. There is no separate bedroom.
Its not as bad as it sounds, some studio apartments are really nice.

A studio apartment is like one big room with the kitchen, bedroom and living area all exposed to each other.
1 Bedroom has a seperate room for sleeping. Though everything else like the kitchen and living area are again exposed.
In both, the bathroom is usually seperate .

There are no wall partitions in a studio apartment, other than for the bathroom. They're also called "efficiency" apartments in some places, A one bedroom apartment may or may not have a separate kitchen/dining room but will have a separate bedroom.

A studio does not have a separate bedroom. It is just 1 room a kitchen and a bathroom. The kitchen area is also sometimes within the living space.

In a studio apartment, everything is in one room (except your bathroom of course.)
In a 1 bedroom, there is an actual room in addition to the living area.

A studio is like one big open floor plan, you normally have to design the specific area ( it may be designed already) with different floor tilings to distinguish the areas- like the kitchen. it won't have a door though.
A single bedroom apartment means the apartment will have one bedroom, with the addition of a living room and bathroom.

In a studio the bed will be in the living area - the kitchen might be too - the only room that will be separate will be the bathroom - a one bedroom flat will have, at least, a separate bathroom and bedroom.
