The Inland Taipan Snake, also called Fierce Snake. That's according to the University of Melbourne in Australia - a few years ago I was fortunate to have worked with some of their biologists studying the snakes.
It lives in remote hot desert areas of Australia. It rarely kills people, but gram for gram, its venom is the most toxic of any snake. The black mamba, north american rattle snake and king cobra produce venom that is nowhere nearly as venomous as the Fierce Snake. It would be hard to measure, but the first site site below claims Fierce Snake venom is 50 times more poisonous than the cobra. I believe the most toxic venom on earth is produced by the blue ringed octopus, also found in Australia!
The second site lists the 10 most poisonous snakes, and claims that a single fierce snake has enough toxin to kill 100 adult humans!

The snake with the most toxic venom is the fierce snake or inland taipan of Australia.
The black mamba is the longest venomous snake in Africa and it does has a very toxic venom.
The king cobra is the longest venomous snake in the world, but drop for drop, the venom is less toxic than other cobras or mambas, but it makes it up with volume. It is supposed to have enough venom to kill a full grown elephant within 3hrs. The African Gaboon viper, which has the longest fangs of any snake, the bushmaster, the world's largest pit viper, and the eastern diamon backed rattlesnake also injects large amounts of venom, which makes there bites just as dangerous.
Now it is the coral snake that has the most toxic venom in US for it is the only New World relative of the cobra, since neurotoxin which is found in coral snakes and cobras kills faster than hematoxin which is found in the rattlesnakes and other pit vipers.
The most dangerous snake in the US would be the eastern and the western diamond back rattlesnake, for which both species won't hesitate to bite at the slightest provocation. The eastern diamond back, like the king cobra, also injects large amounts of venom which is fatal if not treated immediately.
The animal with the deadliest known toxin in the animal kingdom are certain species of poison frogs in Central and South America.

None of the above. other people had it right, it's the fierce snake or inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) of Australia. Some say it's some species of sea snake, but not much is really known about them. Asking which is the most venomous (not poisonous) is different than asking which is the most deadly. Both the fierce snake and sea snake rarely encounter and RARELY bite humans. Several species of cobra and the Russel's viper are what I would consider the most deadly, because they exist in areas densely populated by humans and are encountered much more often (and often stepped on).
On a side note, where the heck did this "Black mamba" thing get started?? They aren't even in the top 10... Most of the most venomous snakes are in Australia, not Africa. Black mambas have a reputation for being aggressive, and are one of the few venomous snakes everyone's heard of... I guess that's what started it.

The black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) is the largest venomous snake in Africa, with an average length around 8 feet (2.5 m), but may grow to over 14 feet (4.5 m). It got its name because of the black inside of its mouth; the actual color of the skin is varied: dull yellowish-green to a gun-metal grey. It is one of the fastest snakes in the world, capable of moving at 10 to 12 mph (16 to 20 km/h).
Drop for drop the king cobra's venom is less lethal than many other snakes, including that of the black mamba and common cobra, but the volume injected can be as much as .2 fluid ounces (7 mL), which makes up for lack of potency and is enough to kill 20-30 people.

Coral snakes are highly venomous, being the only relative of the cobra found in the New World. Despite their relatively small size, their venom is a powerful neurotoxin, quite capable of killing an adult human. Any bite from a coral snake should be considered life threatening and immediate treatment should be sought. Often there is very little reaction around the bite area, as opposed to the pain and swelling usually associated with a viper bite, and systemic effects can delay manifestation for 8-24 hours.

Introducing the Black Mamba
The fastest land snake in the world is the aggressive black mamba found in the southern part of tropical Africa. You might have heard stories about this snake overtaking people on galloping horses but although these snakes are fast, they aren't that fast. They can reach top speeds of 10-12 mph (16-19 km/hr) in short bursts over level ground - good luck trying to outrun one of these snakes if you tick it off!
What Does a Black Mamba Look Like?
Despite its name, black mambas aren't black. They're gray. The name comes from the color of the inside of its mouth - something it will gladly show you while it threatens you, if provoked. They can grow up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) long, which is another reason why this reptile isn't something to mess with. The snake races along with its head held high and about one-third of its body off the ground. That can be up to four feet (1.2 meters) off the ground - about chin level for some people. The black mamba is the most respected and feared snake in Africa.
Black Mamba - The Predator
Black mamba's are aggressive snakes that spring up to strike. Black mambas also go after birds - and they're good at it. One mamba even had a parrot inside its stomach. After biting their prey, black mambas leave it to die. The venom is strong enough to kill prey in a matter of minutes so the snakes don't have to wait long for their meal. For humans, the wait could be up to four hours till death. Black mambas devour their food whole. They can fit food up to four times the size of their head into their mouth and will even dislocate their lower jaw in order to cram more food in.
Black Mambas Don't Make Good Pets
Without treatment, the death rate from a black mamba bite is almost 100 percent. Although two drops of venom from a black mamba are enough to kill a human (they are one of the most poisonous snakes in the world), mambas don't usually attack humans. They should still be left alone - they are considered one of the most dangerous snakes in the world

sea snake, by far the others don't even come close their venom has to be extra toxic due to the fact that it attacks in the water so some of it can be diluted.
death can result within 5 mins in some cases, but they are very passive and very easy to handel.
