At times when I switch on my laptop it says " beginning dump of physical memory." I am running Windows XP and the computer has a celeron chip. Could this be due to a virus, because I have a Trojan virus on my laptop which Norton cannot remove.

What is the cause of the cause of this and how can I remove this problem? Any freeware or shareware or trial versions of software that can deal with it will be appreciated.

By all means check it for viruses and spyware but this sounds like a hardware problem. It can be caused by a number of things - faulty RAM or hard disk buffer are the two most common. Some software may also cause the problem.

Try this troubleshooting page: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
At the top of the error message there should be a STOP error code. The above link should help you identify the problem. It may be that some RAM has gone bad or has simply come loose in its socket or it may be that there is an involvement with one of the disk buffers. From what I have read, the error can happen on NEXT booting up.

Free Antivirus: AVG from Grisoft
Free Anti-spyware: Windows Defender from Microsoft, Spybot S&D, Adaware, SUPERAntiSpyware.

try TUCOWS they have freewear and trial versions of virus removers. find one to at least put the virus in a chest where it cant work. if you get to that point and can do that then try to restore your computer back to factory condition . some come with a backup restore disk and some have them built in. but either way you need to do it. because certain viruses can and will cause your PC to crash and cause lots of other problems. hope this helps you out. good luck !!
