For those of you who might be, I have a short history lesson. In 1969 the U.S. went to combat in Vietnam. This was an attempt to offer the people of Vietnam a chance at self representation in government and stop the growth of communism outside of China and Russia. But suprisingly the North Vietcong fought harder than expected. Later it was discovered that China and Russia were supporting The Vietcong from the beginning. The U.S. had been fighting three countries at once. I therefore, am not suprised by Hezbollah's resistance considering the truth of Syria and Iran's direct support. It will take more than a few wild rockets and guerillas to suprise me. How about you?

You are WAY OFF in your knowledge of the Vietnam War.

The U.S. was officially involved in Vietnam in 1955 and supported South Vietnam, while the Soviet Union and China supporting North Vietnam. This was not a secret, because it was the Geneva convention that split the country in half in making North Vietnam communist and South Vietnam democratic.

If you actually knew anything about the Vietnam War, then you would realize there is very little from the Vietnam War that is similar to anything happening in the Middle East.

firstly, those guys r resistance fighters against israelli occupation of palestine. they fight to redeem their right to a lost homeland in the most terrifying ways. some say to annihilate israel at the most xtreme. without much military power. hence the "terror" tactics i suppose? some call it terrorism. its been going on for decades. it doesnt surprise me at all that its been this 'intense' the past few weeks. israel is keen on finishing off the ghost fighters hiding in south lebanon now that they had the chance. the losses of civillian life is really horrible for the lebanese, and the israelli side too (much less though). it'll never end till both sides r willing to compromise.

what would surprise me is a real military backed offensive being taken up by the jeehad army with syria and iran behind it. now, that maybe likened to the old vietcong. but as history has shown, israel will probably kick their a** just as well. but that would be the start of the latest holy war in a long line of holy wars.

Not sure what your question is exactly.

Did I know they were being supported by Iran and Syria? I assumed this and why not when we are supporting Israel?

That is what allies do... they support each other. Did you expect something different?

It would be just flat wrong to be a country's ally and stand by and watch them be destroyed.

I personally think that the smart thing for Hezbollah to do at this point would be to stop firing rockets and return those 2 soldiers. If they would do this then they would take away Israel's excuse for the war. And we both know that Israel does NOT want to stop at this point. This would illustrate to the world that Israel has crossed the line of defending itself and entered the realm of cruelty.

I'm not surprised and exactly for the reasons you mentioned. What does surprise me is that France and the US decided to get together and whip out a peace plan for Israel and Hezbullah? Huh? France, with the freedom fries? and the U.S. who has done nothig but deride France for their.. well their ..every French f** c ki ng thing! But then the clincher on that travesty? US and France submitted the plan to Iraq (not Iran, Iraq) and they said no. Iraq, where has your loyalty to America gone? We "allowed" you to have elections; we "empowered" you to speak. I'm speaking toyou as if you were Hezbullah, but I'm assuming that even if not you still have some sympathies with them

not surprised by the FACT that the hezmonkeys love to use women and children as human shields to sway world opinion and make their cause sound so glorified. Pretty sad when a nation as great as Israel is criticized when defending itself from terrorist.

Hezbullah hes been preparing for this for 6 yrs , digging tunnels , underground bunkers , fortifications , mine fields and gun positions .

Make no mistake about it , this was deliberate and well planned .
You don't build this kind of defence network overnight .

I was, but now that you point it out, they do have alot of help from other countries. I also was just made aware that hezbollah is one of the worlds biggest drug cartels and uses it to get weapons. that pisses me off. they try and kill us with guns, then with drugs, and then take our money.

Don't be so gullible, McFly. Do you really believe the Israelis are having a hard time with these "gorillas"? Please. Sucking them in, my friend, sucking them in.
