Examples Of Petroleum Products

ALWAYS. Even medications use hydrocarbons derived from petroleum. Petroleum is a mixture of many different kinds of hydrocarbons, which get separated by a process called fractional distillation. This takes place in a refinery. The separated components are sent to various processing plants, where some get made into fuels (gasoline, home heating oil, jet fuel, kerosene), some into lubricants (mineral oil, automotive engine oil, WD-40 and the like), some into tar (asphalt, what paves the roads and driveway, as well as tar for roofing shingles to keep the roof waterproof). Some get made into textiles (nylon, dacron, rayon), plastics (polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethene, polystyrene, polypropylene, polymethyl methacrylate, etc), rubber (polybutadiene, neoprene, nitrile, isoprene, latex, etc.), oily bases for cleaning and cosmetic products, and yes, even some food additives and many medications.

That's why crude oil is so important, and why it is so stupid that we burn so much of it. Once it's gone, making these products will still be possible, but the cost of manufacturing will skyrocket, since the raw materials will have to be synthesized from other sources.

Yeah vasoline is really a petroleium product, so is aquaphor an ointment base, so are the contents of many lip balms, yes plastics. I am not sure about mineral or baby oil you might check on that it might be also. Many lotions have petroleum products in them. It is because they are cheap at the moment not because they are good for us because they are not. Natural mositurizers work much better and are much better for us. Examples are shea butter, coca butter, lanolin which comes from wool and many plant oils from nuts or seeds. We will do much better on body products without them. Hemp is a renewable resouce that makes a fine moisturizer. We have tons of options for moisturizers that are far superior to petroleum products. That is why they call vasoline petroleum jelly. I have not idea about shampoo. I would think not, but am not sure. It would be hard tow wash out if it did, but I would not put anything past the cosmetics industry there are many bad things in cosmetics for us. I have no idea about food. That would be really disgusting. It is true for plastics, lotions, valsoline, ointment bases, antibiotic ointments, eye oinments often, lip products that are not all natural. I would bet you could find in in many products of cosmentic. I would check into chemical products like turpentine, and paint to find out about those as well as mineral oil. I am sure it is all over the household in all kinds of stange places, but my mother was born in an age witout plastics and they survived we will learn too and just learn to use them when absolutely necessary like in medical cases for tubing or cases like that. We can use glass or re-use things and re-cycle like we should. We can use alternative products. People used to purchase shampoo in glass bottles and we can re-use plastic ones we already have and just re-fill them from bulk bottles. We will be fine. We can start riding bikes more and start tree farms for tires for rubber. We will all be fine. Perhaps it will make us save our environment.

Organic produce does not have that pesticide junk coating of oil that other conventional products have. We already have some alternatives in use. We do not have to use all that stuff and like I said some of it is really cheap and it will not be. You can get a jar of generic vasoline for a $1.00 this will not be the case and that stuff is not good for us and natural shampoo does not contain that crud now. They just do not put it in there. Mineral oil is not good for us and plant oil is. It is cheap, but if it is expensive people will just purchase plant oil. It will be fine in many circumstances. We can save a little of it for the things we really need like medications and stop using pesticides and other unneeded crud. It will really be good for farmers if we use plant items. If we have not fuel it will bring jobs back to the us because we will not be able to ship from china as easily and they will be responsible for their own economy and us ours.

Yes, it's true and the petroleum on your food is called "food grade petroleum". Its very much like mineral oil and is used as a coating on foods like apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers to preserve it.
