the roof of my MGF sticks when trying to put it down, i can open it half way then it stops, no matter how hard you push down on it to release it, it doesn't move. On the odd occasion I've closed it again and reopened it and it goes down fully but most times it just stops, theres that many joints in the roof frame I can't tell if it's one of the joints causing the problem or something else? please help.

Contrary to a previous answer, DO NOT use WD40, the problem is not one of siezed or sticky joints, and anyway, WD40 will damage the roof if it comes into contact. The problem is with the second bar from the front of the roof, there is a piece of elastic webbing which is supposed to pull this bar back when the roof is folded back. Over time the elastic weakens and becomes no longer effective. It can be fixed and I think Brown & Gammon sell a kit to remedy. In the meantime, just pull this bar back yourself when folding the roof. I had the same problem with my TF after having the hardtop on over winter.

Mine does it now....i have a 1995 MGF 1,8 in BRG.

It went down perfect wen i got it, but since i attempted to open the roof while driving (not even 5mph) the wind took it and i reakon it slightly bent the rods...i might be wrong but thats what i think.
