yes i nearly died 5 years ago, it was a turning point in my life. i found my path as a result of that experience. i was in the ocean and i should have died i felt someone lift me out of the water and place me on the beach, it was the middle of the night there was no one else there. i wound up at my firends house 15 miles away with no memory of driving there, to this day im sure an angel guided me to the one person who could pull me back.

I think they are likely to be hallucinations brought on by the extreme stress of the near death experience and have common themes due to common brain chemistry.

Both.
As I mentioned in another post before, my blood sugar was down to 18 in the ER some years back. I remember walking forwards amongst numerous faces & figures all around me, & there was a bright light up ahead. I couldn't continue too far because the next thing I new I was being woke up by the doctor, & ER people.

I look at everything like that with curiosity. We can make our minds up what we believe, but nobody has any proof either way.
I've seen a lot of things that are hard to explain. The jury is still out :)
