G'day Sini,

The Ranji trophy started as a selection trial for Indian teams travelling overseas. It hasn't seen many foreign players involved although that may be due to the fact that Indian teams. So far, Dennis Compton and the West Indian players Roy Gilchrist and Lester King playing.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) wants to import players with the names Matthew Hayden and Stuart MacGill being mentioned. However, it would have to be an off-season for the player concerned and the Ranji Trophy conflicts with the Ashes so neither Hayden nor MacGill would be interested.

Regards
