Alright, to start with me and some of my friends were hanging out, at my place yesterday. My friend Jason suggested going on youtube, where he found some Yuri (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_%28animation%29) the other guys really enjoyed watching it, except me...

One thing that we were watching ended up having a little bit of Yaoi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaoi) in it, to which I really enjoyed.

In my almost 19 years of life I have never once been sexually aroused by anything, but that did......

My friends all say I am turning into a sick perverted freak, am I?

NO. no no no no no! You are NOT a "sick perverted freak"-- if you were, there'd be many, MANY "sick perverted freaks" out there. Do you know HOW MANY are yaoi-fans out there? or s-ai (shounen-ai) fans? It's nothing to be ashamed of-- it sounds to me like your friends are just... homophobic?
You don't need those kinds of friends-- the type that cannot face something different in their petty little straight lives. Besides-- yuri is basically yaoi, but with two women instead of two men. It's still animated homosexuality, just like yaoi is. So I don't know why they think watching yuri is less sick or perverted than watching yaoi.

straight male logic is a bit skewed, if you ask me.

Yuri is lesbian content in anime and manga, right? Your friends like to watch that but you don't. So far so good. Tastes differ.

But when you say you like watching yaoi, which is gay male content in the same context, they call you a sick, perverted freak. I don't say you should call them the same thing for their tastes, because that would be just as judgmental and wrong, but if your friends won't let you be different from them without insulting you then perhaps you need some new friends.

On the main issue, if you like watching gay male things on youtube, or anywhere else, because for the first time it sexually arouses you, it strongly suggests you might be gay or at least curious about that kind of sexuality yourself. Don't ever let anyone blame you or criticise you for that. Sexual orientation isn't a matter of choice (don't listen to the born-again fundamentalist homophobes on this one). If you decide to go with it, remember to protect yourself by being realistic. Real life isn't much like the protective, glamorous fantasy world of yaoi. Boys can be quite rough, even if they say they love you.

Since yaoi is a fantasy mainly dreamed up by women for women, you might find it easier to start talking about what you feel to your female friends than to the guys who call you a freak.

Don't listen to your "so called" friends. It's very possible that you might be gay, if that's the case if they were in fact your friends they would support you in coming to terms with your sexuality. And to let you know, no one "turns into" a gay person. I think you can tell that yourself. You've never been turned on by anything, but now this Yaoi is turning you on. By the way, I just learned that term today, coincidentally. Anyway, my suggestion, is to do some soul searching. Maybe you're gay, maybe you aren't, but don't let the opinions of "so called" friends bias your conclusion. I hope things turn out the best for you, and remember a true friend cares for you no matter what. Those types of friends are hard to come by, but trust me, they're out there.

You are not a sick perverted freak at all. You are you, and you are awesome, and that's all that matters.

Perhaps you are gay, perhaps you are turned on by anime -- it doesn't matter, what matters is that you are happy with yourself and know that you are the best.

Email me if you need to talk or want someone to listen -- and I hope you at least take care of... ummm.... your own needs!

Be happy,

No, this doesn't necessarily mean you are gay. You are, perhaps, a late developer (most people become sexually aware long before they are 18 but that doesn't make you odd, perverted or sick.)

No doubt you are exploring your feelings. Do so as open-mindedly as possible and accept yourself for what you are and as you were made.

No you are not turnoing into a freak- you are finding your identity,, and there is not anything wrong with that. You should do what makes you happy and dont care about what your so-called-friends think about the way you choose to live. goodluck.

How is it your friends know so much about what sick, perverted freaks are?

What have *they* been doing that makes them so sure?

I wouldn't jump to conclusions...take your time and make sure you know what you want...don't let your friends tell you what you are...decide for your self and if it's being GAY...more power to you!!!
