I have charter high speed internet, my modem is a motorola SB5100 surfboard, my router is a linksys wireless g WRT54G router, which i used to replace my previous router, which was a D-link wireless DI-524.
The 4 systems I want to connect are as follows: A gateway laptop, a macintosh G4, an Xbox 360, and a Playstation 2.
I have all the cables hooked up properly, but its just like the modem doesnt want to accept another router! Ive powered things off and on about a hundred times, pulled cables out and plugged them in again, but nothing seems to work!! When i hook up the D-link router, its fine, like my modem only likes D-link??
But i cant play online games on my 360 with another friend of mine, because the retarded D-links NAT settings are all messed up and theres no way to fix them, trust me i tried!
My other friend has comcast high speed, with the exact same linksys router, and he doesnt have any problems!!
This issue is so frustrating its driving me up the wall!!
Please help!!

Learn how IP works. You're suppose to set these things up. Just because they work pretty good in default settings doesn't mean that you don't need to configure it.

RTFM(read the f*cking manual)

Ok now that I've got that out of my system. When you plug in a device does your router assign IP addresses? Your router must assign addresses or you must use static addresses before your devices can talk to eachother. If you use static addresses make sure it is correct. (hint: make sure it's in the correct subnet)
If you go to start>run and type ping 192.168.1.1 and it "timesout" then there is something wrong. I'm assuming you've left the routers dhcp and ip address set to default.
Log into the wrt54g web portal and check the settings has your wrt54g obtained an address from your isp. To log in go to http://192.168.1.1

Don't worry about port forwarding until you've got an internet connection.
