To explain why conservatives are not without compassion read the following.

One time, when I was living in western Washington, I was doing some volunteering for the National Park Service and I didn't have much money, except for the meager stipend for food they provide.

While walking through the streets of Seattle about that time with a friend, a homeless man came up to me and asked me for money.

I only had ten dollars in the world until my next stipend check, about a week away. I gave the man the ten dollars. Literally all the money I had in the world, and just smiled and said there you go buddy.

This was not a blind man, a handicapped person, etc. but just a man not working begging for money.

The liberal thinks that the man needs a social program. The conservative understands that the man needs to get a job.

I understood this too, but I wasn't so stingy as to withhold from the man my entire liquid assets.

Does this make me a hard hearted conservative?

Yeah, rich parents? Right on bro. They gave me the money to eat some bread and drink some milk for the next week.

Oh, wait, my parents didn't even know I was in Seattle, ya' cynical retard.

I don't like blanket indictments so I'll disagree...ALL Liberals are not ineffectual dumb*sses...

But, overall, here's what I see to be the problem with some Liberals...and it ties in pretty much with what you've said.

(Most) Liberals equate words with action. A Liberal will complain about the poor and underprivileged, the war, the economy, the environment, and everything else under the sun. But they rarely take any meaningful action on any of their complaints...nor do they offer any solutions for their perceived problems. The believe that assigning blame...real or imagined...is the equivalent of solving a problem.

I have a good friend who's a flaming Liberal. Everytime I see her, she moans and groans about e.g. ever since GWB became President, the homeless are having to make due without winter coats. Now this a really silly assumption on her part...but she actually believes that GWB is keeping winter coats from freezing homeless people.

I'm fairly Conservative and I work with the poor and homeless through my (conservative) Catholic church. Trust me...the homeless in our city have more coats available to them than I have...and nice ones too!

My friend however, has done nothing whatsoever about the coat situation...ever!

It's very tiresome listening to them.

Liberals are not stupid. But sometimes there compassion overtakes their logic. They believe that if people are given the chance they will do the right thing. Sadly this is not the case. People don't do the right thing.

Liberal isn't a bad term though. The terms liberal and conservative have been used to much.

There is no answer, only questions. Ideology can be a wonderful and awful thing. It blinds us to possibilities, and helps us to focus our passions.

Good and bad in all things, including politics.

The man needs to get a job, and be taught how to make money work for him - a thing merely getting a job won't do. The most effective approach would be a combined liberal conservative approach. There is merit in having a socal programme as well as getting a job - but neither approach can be touted as the only solution.

As for your last question, you may be an exception to a rule.

If you truly believe the man should get a job, why in the world would you support his begging by giving him the money? Have the character enough to stand for your principles at the right moment. If your so concerned about it but truly want to help someone in that situation, pick up some business cards or write down the addresses/phone numbers of already existing services or the nearest employment center/temp agency and hand those out.

Eh big deal, I bet you were just scared to say no. Maybe you understood at the time that you weren't above him on the food chain. What have you given lately now that you can afford the chair that sits in front of your computer in the house that the computer is in?

Everyone can come up with something they did that could indicate that they aren't what ppl say they are. But in the end you can't escape your true prejudices and self-righteousness.

My counter to your great out pouring of love...
I've made forty dollars an hour and still slept on the sidewalk with homeless ppl in NYC because I prefer their company to the company of Yuppies that infest the upper echelons of Manhattan.

You probably have rich parents and, after giving the guy your "last" ten bucks, called daddy and asked him to wire you money through Western Union!!!

I find it amusing that you, who call others retarded, believe that giving $10 to a homeless guy years ago, somehow not only qualifies you for the Grand Martyr of the Year Award but also somehow proves that political conservatives don't really want to kick the crap out of the poor and unfortunate, in the name of promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship. What a joke you are!

Exactly my point when dealing with liberals. The liberals feel better when they have the government force you to give to people without your permission. I give to people all the time because I choose to. If only the Fair tax could become law.

we are no longer those who "elected" a President who did not study his nationwide protection memo. We do comprehend what's contained in the well being care invoice: in case you in easy words like the well being care you've, you are able to save it; if no longer, the alternative is that the authorities will do it because it continuously must have.

I think you must be a saint or even perhaps a god. You did something nice, good for you. What the hell does that have to do with being either a liberal or a conservative? I'm so glad you are humble as well.
