I'm Gay and most people that I've met had no idea. I'm not what you would call "manly" but I'm by no means feminine. I've heard a recent study on homosexuality and biology, and it seems that there may be genetic factors, but the full scope of sexuality has more to do with several factors. The genes that have been targeted as some of the primary causes for homosexuality have also been linked to other genes that cause femininity in men, and masculinity in women, but there are many exceptions to the rule. The fact is that the gay gene is probably spread because straight men that carry the recessive gene are more likely to show the signs of femininity such as compassion, sensitivity, etc. that many straight women find attractive in a mate. The same would be true for straight women that carry the recessive gene, being more bold, and experimental, masculine traits that many straight men find very attractive.
To answer your question, there is probably a link, but it's not a definite 100% truth. Then of course you get the gays that feel that once they come out, they have to "play the part" so that others will know that they are gay. I see allot of them around here as this is a very rural area and it's hard for gays to be visible without being flamboyant. In more metropolitan areas it's less common but still happens.

For the most part, no, I don't think they are. However, that population does include some men who act very feminine -- for those of us who have been around gay or bi people (especially men) a lot, we would by lying if we were not to admit that. Some gay men who are very masculine acting resent gays who do act in a feminine manner, especially around non-heteros. Overall though, I think it's important to distinguish between sexual orientation and "gender" (or what we think gender-appropriate behavior is at any specific point in history or culture). I hold the belief too that some gay men can become hyper-masculine, which opens up a whole new set of problems, with their friendships (or relationships) with other men -- or friendships with women.

No. Every human has both masculine and feminine characteristics. Most men are mainly masculine, most women are mainly feminine, but each has some of the other. Sometimes a man will be more feminine than most. Among gay men, when this occurs, there may be less tendency to 'Hide" his feminine side. In fact he may choose to recognize that this side works well for him in dealing with others, and emphasize his feminine side.
But this feminine gay male is in the minority. And there are feminine straight males too, but they may try harder not to act so feminine, as they have likely experienced negative reaction from other straight people, including parents and siblings, as well as school mates, etc.
In general, except for who we are attracted to, GAY PEOPLE ARE JUST NOT THAT DIFFERENT FROM STRAIGHT PEOPLE.

I'm going to start copying my answers and pasting them into questions like this.
Gay men are only different from straight men because they are attracted to members of the same sex. Any behavioural differences are deliberately cultivated and enforced by stereotypes that the larger society has had in place to cast homosexuals in a negative light in the mass media for at least seventy years.
So to summarise, no, gay men are no more woman-like, those that appear to be so are acting. Though, it's not their fault, they just see these stereotypes and believe they should be that way as it's likely to be their only obvious role model.

Yes!
My Gay roomate and his clique of friends behave in a manner exactly like women. Their tastes in food, music and television skew completely as women. He treats his boyfriends EXACTLY like a woman to the point that if I predict how a woman would react to a situation his reaction will be textbook identical. I firmly believe that whatever goes on in a man's brain that makes him attracted to other men is identical to the process that goes on in the brain of a woman who's attracted to men. Oddly I don't find this quite as true about Lesbians and Straight men.

Not to say that there aren't a fair share of feminine guys out there, but unless you saw me with my mouth wrapped around some guys junk, you would never know I was gay. It's just a stereo type, don't you ever read or get out much?

Overall I'd say no, that's not to say there aren't plenty of "queens" out there!
I have to convince people that i am gay. most dont believe me when asked. Gay is not a physical trait / attribute, but a sexual preference in my book. Being gay does not dictate how I act, talk, t.v. programs I watch, etc...

Some had assigned sex by birth, and puberty cheated them!

No.
You notice the ones that are more feminine and then assume that gays are more woman like. There are many, many more who are not feminine, but you do not know that they are gay and would think they are straight.
