File a complaint with the Bar Association or Court that lawyers are charging exorbitant fees. It should be noted that they took their oaths to serve but not to charge huge fees. It is a violation of the Code of Ethics for lawyers.

You didn't have to use this particular lawyer. Most lawyer will set out for you the fees they charge when they are engaged to handle a case.

Also, you should get a break down of the billing and work that has been done. Most lawyers aren't meticulous in this area and sometimes fudge the billing hours when they work not only on your case but another client's case.

For example, he starts your case around 9:00am but then holds off and looks at another client's file around 9:20am then finishes both of them around 10:00am. He'll most likely charge both clients an hour of work even though it's an hour divided between two clients.

I agree that they charge way too much and there should be a law against it.
Nobody has to make $200-300 and hour.
I dont know what can be done about it.
