PERT charts are used for showing dependencies and dependents for certain dev. milestones. For example, a dot representing "having a finished program" might have two lines going to it, one from "got a design" and one from "got customer feedback." The lines would be labelled with the period of time expected for each one. The projected project time is always the largest sum one can find by following the graph from start to finish.
