Get an icon making program like Microangelo and it's pretty easy from there if you have even an inkling of knowledge of how to use a mouse to draw pixels. It's a lot of fun and worth it.

sand a boxwood panel very smooth. apply a weak solution of rabbit skin glue. when the first layer is tacky, apply a stronger glue solution. wait for this to dry, then apply 10 coats of gesso, brushed perpendicular to the previous layer. polish the gesso. draw your image on the dried gesso with a silver stylus in accordance to orthodox oconographical canons. separate your eggs. mix up your paints with egg yolk and an equal amount of distilled water. paint your flesh tones first with terre vert, then white and ochres and vermillion. gild and stamp your background. I know you wanted info on computer icons, but I couldn't resist.
