Gandhi was a Noble and Great Man. If people today were more like him, being tolerant and less violent, a lot less people would be suffering today in the middle east. It isn't the dead that suffer, its the surviving families of the dead that goes through the worst of anguish... be they citizens or army personel

Gandhi's practice of Non-Violence has been an inspiration to millions.

There can be difference of opinion about his political or social views. How on earth, one can doubt the goodness of Gandhi, as a person. He was a saint. His life was an open book; he lived by his principles and died for that. He had the courage to put to practise what he believed in various controversial issues, like untouchable, abstinence, frugal living. One of the answerers has said that he was let down by the Muslims. I disagree with him. He was let down by the Hindus. Many believe that it was he who got India's independence. Nothing is farther from truth. Any body who knows the history of India's freedom struggle, would say that in the final stage of Independence, many of the Congress leaders found him to be too much of hindrance to be seriously consulted. His final end was more of a tragedy, which is well documented in "The last 100 days of Gandhi's Life" - a Hindu publication. The world is so much of an evil that God took pity on him and took him away from us. I want the person who said Gandhi was not a good person, not to assassinate Gandhi over again.

There is good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us,
So it behooves all of us, not to talk about the rest of us.

- R.L. Stevenson

It still remains to be seen, time will tell the tale.

It remains for those that agreed or disagreed to improve the situations. Remembering his sacrifices through our actions is what really counts. That validates the sacrifices.

Carefull analysis of supporting & opposing views must be made with regard to progression, relevancy, & regression. Because Gandhiji was a Human, consistency, motives, & effectiveness, must also be taken in to account.

Freedom only to be yoked to another master, is not freedom.

Is he good or bad is nothing, he is a national leader. He sacrifice his life to get freedom to India from Britishers alogwith others.

So many great persons are also sacrificed to get freedom to India on inspiring the Great Gandhiji.

At this juncture is a good or bad person is entirely wrong. What is doing by him at the time of his period no one can justified at this period. OK some of them are loss and some of them are benefitted. Every body in the great positions maybe effected for good or bad things.

Are you a good person ? think yourself why. What are you doing to the nation.

Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest people in history. He proved, indeed invented, a new way to bring change through organized non-violence. This single act is one of the greatest advancements in human history. He was the major inspiration for Martin Luther King. Unfortunately the message that revolution is possible without violence seems to have been swept aside in our modern world.

though mahatma Gandhi was a good soul as a person. his way of thinking is reactionary.i feel the British mere transferred power to India under compulsion after the end of second world war as it felt it no more could run that country economically viable. as the British people believed in law of justice Gandhi did some nonviolent struggles. but he did not do any thing for Goa which was ruled by Portuguese, and the kingdom of nizamh ruled by a religious fanatic who caused for the death of thousands of peasants with his private army called razakars.Gandhi was not as liberal and democrat as people thought. he could not digest the victory of subhash Chandra Bose against bhogaraju pattabhi seetha ramayya as president of the congress party. he could not tolerate the influence of ambedkar among the dalits, the depressed classes, untouchables, in India and brought babu jagajeevan ram as dalit leader in place of ambedkar, the architect of Indian constitution.there are many stalwarts in India who opposed Gandhi's principles.for example m.n.roy, Dr.ambedkar, subhash Chandra Bose, bhagat singh et al.had Gandhi put pressure on Nehru to give power to Jinnah India would not have been divided. Gandhi himself admitted that a sex pervert who could not sleep lonely . he made some eccentric experiments with celibacy like sleeping with girls.

He did many good things. His biggest mistake was letting Hindus and Muslims live in the same country...created major problems. India and Pakistan- both would have been more at peace if one was made a muslim state and the other a Hindu (non-muslim) state
