Language help - cub that doesn't drink its mother's milk is ******* ?

I used to know this word but I just can't remember. It is an adjective and it is used to describe a cub that no longer drinks its mother's milk. It sounded like weaned, or wheaned, or something like that.

yeah it's "weaned"

it's also a verb - to wean a cub off milk

The closest I can think of is whelp, but I thought there was another word.
