Never alcohol! It will do a lot of damage and take the top coat right off! Lighter fluid or spit if the stain is fresh.

Put Seltzer or any gas water on the stain and the damp it dry. Or steam clean it.

finger nail polish remover can do this just fine
and if you use the alcohol free kind it wont hurt your couch
