Generally, if your snake is hungry it will track your movements outside the cage; maybe even strike at the cage. A general rule of thumb is when you feed them, about 3 - 4 days later they defacate; then they are ready to eat again. It does depend on the prey size also. If you fed your snake something a bit larger than you have in the past, it could go longer between feedings.

If the snake is trying to eat your friend. Honestly, I would just research online about that specific snake and just see how much it needs to eat a day. So long as your friend feeds it that much a day, I doubt it actually matters at what time of day the snake is actually hungry (if it even feels hunger like that...)

When he looks at you with his mouth open and his fang hanging out with slobber foaming at the mouth.
Actually, call the veterinarian or a pet store. Call professionals and do not trust answers on such crucial questions on this site. The answers are probably correct. Ya know, the people you get answers from on this site may know more than the vets or stores. Compare both and good luck. Just do not get too close and keep your hands and nose away from the snake.

well put food in the cage with it and see if he eats it. Most people that own snakes know how offten to feed them for example I feed my boa every thursday, do you get what I'm saying, theres usually a vaugue idea of how long a specific snake can go before it should eat again.
