besides the money and benefits why would i become a correctional officer

It pays well and requires little educational background. It gives a hard working dedicated person a chance to thrive even though he does not hold a diploma of any worth. It is slightly dangerous but also gives one an opportunity to help others. It gives an honest man a way to earn an income he can actually live on. It is an honest living. I think those are all worthy reasons. I do not think they are looking for a thesis here. Don't try to impress them with someone elses opinion though, use your own reason, state it simply and from the heart. You might add you have a lot of tolerance if it is so.

Stay away from statement like: I like to control losers.
