wow a double header! Play Ball!

One nice thing about the decimal system that we use is that each place in a number is 10 times the place to its right.

010 is ten times 001
020 is ten times 002
300 is ten times 030

To find 1/10 of a number, just move the decimal point to the left one place.

You have 1234. 1/10th is 123.4

1 mile is 5280 feet.
Move the decimal point 1 to the left.: 528.0

How many feet in 10 miles?
Move the decimal point 1 place to the right! 5280.0 => 52800

;-D How many feet in the yard? It depends on how many kids are out there playing! hahaha Count their noses. Move the decimal point 1 place to the right. Divide by 5. hahaha Is math fun?

1/10 (1 mi)

1 mi = 5280 ft, so
5280 ft/1 mi = 1

If I multiply this to the original value, it will not change. Instead the unit will be converted to ft.
= 1/10 (1 mi)(1)
= 1/10 (1 mi)(5280 ft/1 mi)
= 5280/10 ft
= 528 ft

Therefore,
1/10 mi = 528 ft
