The hole will grow back very quickly, if my experience is normal. Mine grew back in only a few weeks I think, and I don't think anyone could see the tiny mark from the piercing. Loads of men have earrings as teens but don't when they get older.

Then don't get your ear pierced. There is a period after you get your ear pierced that if you don't wear jewelry in them, they will grow back and heal over, but that window is only about a month or so, not years. But once your ears are healed and you have your holes, they stay that way. Trust me, I rarely wear earrings, sometimes I don't wear them for 7 or 8 months at a time, but I never have trouble getting them in there.
What you propose is very unlikely, but I suppose it's possible.
I wouldn't do it for some passing fad. Why would you want to get your ears pierced anyways, if you know you won't want them in the future?

I just thought of all the teenagers now who have ridiculous tattoos and those big ugly piercings in their faces, and I'm imagining them in their 30's in suits and ties. It's not a pretty thought.
Please don't do that. It's such an unappealing thought. It's hard to look respectable with a 10 gauge in your nose, and most ladies will think it's juvenile when you're in your twenties and thirties.

For most people if you leave it in for 6 months or longer the hole will never close. For others it will ocasionally close even after youve worn something for years. I had my ears peirced at 6 and wore the studs for 6 months like they told me. I took them out for 2 hours and the holes had alread closed to the point that I could not force the studs back through. I had them re-pierced at 7 left the studs in for 2 years without removing and then took them out for 2 days and the holes closed. Finally, I had them pierced a third time and left them in for 2 years and then only removed them to change to another pair of earings. I never had nothing in my ears again until after 5 years of constant earing wearing. Then the holes have stayed open ever since. Also something very strang one of the holes from a previous piercing all of the sudden reoppened and has not closed since then either. Now I have not worn earring much at all for 4 years and the holes remain open. But my ears are full of scar tissue. Most people will not have the same experience and their holes will remain open but even if you somehow had ears like mine and they closed you will still have a mark where the hole was and scar tissue underneath it. If you reaaly don't wnat a hole but want an earring just get a magnetic one that you can wear when you like and remove easily when you don't

the hole will close but not after such a long time wearing the earrings.

if you pierce your ear tomorrow, then you remove it after 10 yrs, you would still have the hole when u r 30.

But then, what is the problem in having the hole when you get older, as long as you don't wear the earring?!

When you get older you'll have a reminder of the happy young days!

No the hole doesn't grow back unless you take the earring out before the six weeks is up after they are pierced

Theyre is no way in hell a hole can "grow back"
It closes up in time when you leave it out

For reference I have my upper ears pierced and lower

oh and theyre will be no "mark" when it's gone unless you guage the hell outta it like a 2 inch hole...but normally ppl don't do that

it is possible. i had mine pierce at age 4 and i can only wear real gold so i don't have tons of earrings. I have gone a year or 2 w?o any in my ears and I'm always able to push that earring thru when i dwcide to wear them after that year.

the hole won't grow back if you only have the ring in for a little while, you gotta keep it in for at least 6 months, then it should last..

It depeneds on the form of guy you're, if every person on your grandpa has them then i think its ok. circulate with what your mom tells you, she is familiar with whats perfect.
