Also, does anyone know if you can play PS2 games on the PS3?

You will be able to play PS2 games on the new PS3 system. That will be the one good thing vice the 360, which only has a limited number of backward compatible games. I'm sure PS2's will not be around forever and eventually you should see dramatic price decreases on both the PS2 and xbox system once the new generation consoles are all out and available. This will help the manufacturers and retail stores offload their stock of old and outdated consoles.

It will most likely be just like when the PS2 came out. For a period of about a year afterward or so they still had new ps1 games coming out. So the PS2 will be slowly phased out after ps3 hits.

no they won't but about six months after the PS3 comes out they will only make games for the PS3 not for the PS2

comming of PS3 will not take away PS2
since both are frm the same company they will have similar features but the latest one will have better features than the older versions.
it is the same as in case of windows u can c windows 2000, 98,95, XP i hope this was useful

you will still easily be able to get the ps2 once 3 is out. even if it is discontinued there's always e-bay.
