The computer was invented to save data for a long time, and so was the hard disk,

Before you go on the vacation, DO unplug the pc because it may get damaged due to heavy voltage, etc.

DONOT forget to cover the pc with a bed-sheet or cloth, as there are chances that the dust may settle on the pc, rendering it to another service,

It'll be fine.... all the major stuff is saved on the hard drive, and the motherboard has a battery back-up to keep the date & time working properly in the event of a powercut.
Since I got my current PC in September 2002, my old one has been living life as a monitor stand and unhooked from the electric...... when I tried starting it again a year later, it still worked fine and had the correct time & date on the clock...... and we're talking technology specs of Windows '95 / 16MB of RAM / 233Mhz EVERGREEN Processor (upgraded from 75MHz Pentium1)...... so yours should be fine if you're just unhooking it for a week or two.

It is safe to unplug your computer. Otherwise everytime you would shut down your computer you would lose everything you did during that period of work time.
