On old hotel rooms and appartments, they have a chain that clicks into a track, which I think is called a "Door chain."

But nowadays, they usually have these funny things that look like a tuning fork with hinges on one side, and it flips over onto a knob. It does about the same thing the door chain does, but I don't know what it's called, so I can't find out much about it.

I think different companies give it different names, which makes the whole search for it harder. How many names can you think of?

Umm, I would be looking for the non-chain type...

You want a "chain security lock". They are available at Lowe's, Home Depot, your neighborhood store, and many other retail outlets. I have even seen them in the hardware department at WalMart. They usually cost well under $10.00 and are normally available in a bright or antiqued brass finish.

Good luck with your project.
