I saw the news report saying that 50% of Americans still think Iraq had WMD even though there have been reports and checks saying none were found. What is going on? If none were found, where did they go? Or did they not have any to begin with?

Any old weapons of mass destruction they had left5 over the 80's were probably the ones that the United States supplied them with to use against Iran. It seems some people forget that the United States funded not only Saddam's regime, but also trained Osama Bin Laden back in the day.
And so what if he had them, i think America has them, god knows many other nations have them, the mere threat that a tiny nation thousands of miles away has a few old mustard gas bombs is no reason to violate international law and start a stupid war.
I'm not surprised that 50% of Americans believe that anyway, the majority of Americans were dumb enough to vote for Bush the second time around (though not the first time i think), and i hear only 12% believe in evolution as opposed to God doing it all. So i don't think that the population of the United States is the best when it comes to believing the right thing with regard to facts or common sense.

To wunderkind: im sure the United States government will conveniently use any information, real or falsified, whenever they feel the need to interfere with another country. Just look at what they did to Iran's democratically elected government with Operation Ajax.
p.s. Also i know it was a joint operation with the U.K.

You see the confusion here is that the damn liberal controlled media is basically lying about this issue. That article mentioned a bunch of old reports about WMD, while the reason people know their were WMD in Iraq, are all the damn nerve gas canisters we've confiscated, not to mention the declassified material from Hussein's government which spell out the fact that he had WMD (including a nuclear program and yes, african yellow cake) and documenting that all that stuff was moved by the russian to Syria. We also have the sworn testimony of the officals responsible for the move.

WMD is a fact. The administration is just not making a big deal about it (prolly making a backdoor deal with russia to take care of it). People who say otherwise, conveniently overlook the mountain of evidence (evidence that includes hundreds of shell with sarin gas etc. that we have physical custody of....doh) that has come to light in this summer.

BTW, those translated documents also detail several thousand trained terrorists under Hussein who were about to come to the US to make 9/11 a weekly occurance. That never happened because of the war and most of those people have been killed. Further, the oil for food scandel documented in great detail how Al Queda was essentially bankrupt until Hussein and the UN funded them with oil for food. At the very least, 9/11 could not have happened without Hussein's money. But, more disturbing are all the direct ties to Al Queda, that are popping up. For example, the fact that Salmon Pak had been reactivated in recent years (Salmon Pak is the terrorist training ground that taught people how to fly planes into buildings.....doh).

Bush has been FULLY vindicated. And it annoys me to no end that he doesn't go after the liberal scum with this knowledge.

Even the French and the Russians who were against our invasion were sure that Iraq had WMD. Clinton was been interviewed many times and said he was under the belief they had it when he was President and the Iraqi new media gave the impression that they had it. You would have to be pretty foolish not to believe that didn't have any at the time of the invasion. I am suprise that its only 50%, but then again studies show only 25% of the population really pays attention to current events.

People heard all the ballyhoo about WMD and then the focus on it petered out. The fact that there never was any is well known by the media, but it wasn't as trumpeted as all the hoopla about looking for it in the first place.

There never was WMD in Iraq.

As a marine wife I can tell you not everyone thought there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq allthough we know he did have them at one point and time. He used them in the 80's against some civilians in Iran. I know that in Juen they found some parts of them over there but they were from the 80's nothing has been found that is made after 89.

Iraq had WMD and they were carted to Syria before the conflict broke out. The US government knows this but will not use the information (for whatever their reason) at this time.

yes..they had wmd before but they are unable to use them as after the first UN sanctioned inspection, they have been slowly disposing off the wmd...so, when american took over iraq, they just couldn't find anymore wmd as they have been destroyed or shipped out of iraq to other countries....

There never were any WMD in Iraq. Whoever ran the poll did it like Rockstar Supernova - vote as many times as you want. It was really eighteen people who voted over and over and over again.

At some stage in the last five years, WMD would have been in IRAQ.

Well, they used to at one point, and then through sanctions and what not, they were supposedly destroyed.

Of course, they may be in Syria.

I do know this. If you are gonna tell the world you are gonna invade another country because they have WMD's, you better damn well make sure you find them.
