I have a 2002 Saturn SL. Recently, I took it to the dealer for a 30,000-mile service. Dealer decommended that the coolant be flushed and filled along with Fuel System Cleaning.

Now my car has the new Red/Orange-Color Coolant -- from the factory.

According to the Saturn Website - and maintenance schedule, the coolant is good for 100,000 miles. Is that true? Or do I follow the dealer's recommendation?

How about the Fuel System cleaning? Again, the manual makes no mention of that... and the fuel filter is to be replaced at 100K miles.

My geographic area is in NY/NJ with mixed driving: highway and local.

The reason GM says to replace it at 100,000 miles (160,000 kilometers) is just a selling feature. GM says that because it helps them sell vehicles by telling people they can go longer on their preventative maintenance. GM also says that you do not have to change out their platinum spark plugs for 160,000 miles which is true, for the most part the plugs themselves will last but try getting them out of the cylinder head is a completely different story.
Change you coolant every 50,000 kilometers (31-32000 miles) and you'll be fine.

As for the fuel system, do a motovac or a tereclean service when it comes time to do a tune up. Saturns are known for having excessive carbon build up in the intake manifold. Do a tune up at 60,000 miles and you'll be fine.

shall we start up with #a million Coolant or a mixture of antifreeze and water, is examined by ability of checking the freeze aspect probability-free practices and through seen inspection for murkiness or a milky substance. Antifreeze has aspects that go away a layer on the surfaces of inner engine aspects to assist in scuffling with corrosion. those aspects ruin down after time and the coolant starts off to p.c.. up the residues and which include it flows by ability of the engine. a thanks to attempt in case your antifreeze is broken down besides the very incontrovertible fact that it seems sparkling is to placed one end of a multi meter contained in the coolant and the different on the engine block, if there is no resistance the coolant ought to get replaced, if there is no studying the coolant aspects are nonetheless modern-day and it would not want to get replaced. #2 As defined in #a million it really is the ruin down of the probability-free practices aspects that you worry about which means that climate it truly is chilly or warm you want your engine secure. And as reported in #1Coolant is the antifreeze and water mix on your cooling gadget. Antifreeze no longer in easy words prevents your coolant from freezing yet also aids in scuffling with overheating. A flush should not be over a million hours troublesome artwork plus antifreeze and flush.

Replace any coolant at 30,000 miles to prevent engine damage. My friend has a Corsica that has had two head gaskets go because he didn't properly service this coolant. I change it in my Dodge yearly to avoid problems.
