In order for artists to lead productive lives they need to be exploited, by either a manager, producer or sponsor. All of which hold comment and opinion. A piece of work that may take a week to complete, could be cut down as poor, unworthy and distastful on first view.

Artists endevour to make people emote through their work, so tend to have a greater sympathy with their own emotions. They there fore act as their emotions dictate. If upset...they get upset. Some would consider this as an 'emotional outburst'.

Every single being is a spirit made up of emotions and it's our emotions that drive us to create, whether it's painting singing poetry writing songs, movies plays etc whatever, so yes artists are emotional and all different from one another that's why they are unique and create in their own style. I like to think they are passionate about what they do and they share their thoughts feelings with us all in an artistic creative way which is wonderful really for where would we be without ART? (life would be dull)

As much as I want to deny or agree with that, I just can't help myself to say that artists are emotional.

One reason: Scientifically/factually it is proven that artists do get in touch of their emotional side compared to the left-brainers (scientist, doctors, mathematician) cos most of our work or product does involves spiritually or more in depth on our feelings, emotions, etc.

But don't get me wrong, when we say artists are emotional people means they tend to cry whenever they listen to sad Barry Manilow songs or get easily offended when people say bad things to the artists. Most of the feelings, whether it sad/happiness/anxiety, etc are always been put in the form of artwork.

Thats why art critics always associated with the mood or feelings of the artists when they put out the comments on the artist's work. The experts can actually 'see' and 'feel' how the artists feel through their work, whether its Expressionism, Impressionism, or just Pollock style!

And how do I know this? cos I'm an artist growing up with my parents whos artists themselves. Can't get away with it.

Yeah, I'm emotional and I write, paint, photograph, draw, dance, etc...

I think most are. YOu have to use your emotions -and- creative thinking. How will this make the viewer/listener FEEL and how do I --Creatively Display this Idea-- to make it most effective?
That is what art is about. Portraying a feeling or idea.
You dance to music using your emotions and creativeness.
You want the viewer of your painting to get something out of it emotionaly.

The more you use your emotions and spend time being 'emotional' the better.

Yes, because bland people wouldn't make good artists. To be a good artist, you have to think abstractly, and most good artwork is inspired by deep emotion.

I think most art is probably inspired by emotion, not all but a good percentage of it. perhaps artistic ability and emotional response come from the same areas of the brain, I dunno, I will have to look into that.

Well, I've read that artistic types lean toward being psychotic. I am a writer, I guess I feel psychotic.

It's true! All people are emotional even when seemingly lifeless in posture.
