They're still doing the one piece of hand luggage per person, although they weren't too particular when I brought a purse and a laptop. You must not have any liquids at all, and no aeresols over 100ml. Check with your airline for sure, they have a listing of what is and is not acceptable. But then the airline security usually says something else anyway! Have fun on your trip!

So, if you are travelling with 2 seperate tickets, then normally your bags won't be checked thru. You can try to present both tickets in Seattle at the check-in counter, and ask them, if they can check it thru, but with electronical tix this might be a problem, and u have to pick up your bags in Newark and check them in again.
If you are holding only 1 ticket, then they can check it thru, because Continental has an agreement with Virgin for the issuance of electronical tix.
I keep my fingers crossed and good luck

Check with Continental. Usually airlines will transfer your luggage to your next flight even when it's a different airline. You might also want to check the history of lost luggage for both airlines by googling "lost luggage statistics." Good luck.

I believe that Continental and Virgin have ticketing and baggage transfer agreements. But I'd ask the airline to make sure if you can check it all the way through. I'm sure they will check them through though

Yes. You will need to check in on the new airline so they know you are there, and you should check your bags when you. I don't believe they will transfer them when you are changing airlines.
