thanks clifton, you have no idea what you are talking about. The simple fact that you can string together some big words should make you feel good. But then again I guess that's what you were going for, huh?

There are many kinds of dreams. I have had premonitions in dreams that have come true. I had a dream one night that my father in law was in the hospital dying, and 2 days later we heard he had to have a triple by pass surgery, and a week later, he died. I also had a dream one night while on vacation with my husband in lake Tahoe, that someone broke in our room. I later woke up hearing knocking on the door by a stranger, and we had to call the desk downstairs to have someone come up and tell that person to leave! I have also seen my parents in my dreams after they have died, and it seemed so real like they were right there with me. I told my Dad,that it was such a beautiful place where we were, actually where were we?? I said it had to cost a lot of money to be able to stay in such a beautiful place, and he said, no actually its free, you never have to pay, and he wanted me to stay with him and my mother, but I told them I had to go or everyone would wonder where I was. I will never forget that one! They say, that our loved ones can contact us through our dreams, and I do believe it now!

Good Question. They are not premonitions in the way you think of them. It sounds like you have a powerful imagination to work. Sometimes dreams are messages from your ego which is assigned the duty to protect you. Or/and dreams can be a representations of a feeling shown to you in service to your life force. For example, I dreamed and woke up in the middle of it, that I had killed someone and buried them in the backyard. (This is a dream, not a real thing)
I realized right away that this was a dream pattern. Something I had dreamed many times but never remember when I had awaken. This time I remembered, it was such a terrible feeling. So I searched my mind for any event similar to this dream. And no, I had not done anything that would appropriately make me feel so bad.
So what was the dream about? It was not a real event, but it was a real feeling. And then some things dawned on me. This was my subconsciousness communicating some really important stuff to me and I had only just caught it by the toe.
It turns out that it does not take much to terrify a child. If there is not love there and when a kid gets hurt or scared, then the child internalize this as a terrible event. So scary and so frightening to you or me that we are afraid or something we can not remember. And that is the way it is. Unlike an adult that has a very bad experience, the grown up child may not ever remember the events.
Follow through with this, run it past a professional doctor.

Often times dreams that are premonitions are more colorful and real feeling than the others. After stating that, the more realistic ones could also be you traveling in an astral state. Which is basically, when your soul or essence can leave the body for a period of time to travel the different astral planes, or even to just visit people you havent seen in a long time. The twilight zone ones I think we would need more details to be able to help you differentiate between the two. If it helps at all, when I have "funny dreams" which is a term I coined as a small child for my premonitional dreams, they always have a rainbow in them, so if you find any one thing re-occuring in dreams that have nothing else to do with one another, that might be a good way to tell! Hope I helped!

it is believed we dream for 3 reasons (notice i said believed and not proven) reason 1: to relax/entertain the mind which continues to function even after our body has shut down. 2. An attempt by the sub-concious to deal with something that the conscious mind is unwilling to or unaware of. 3. It's random biochemistry and the images are a side effect of the nuerons firing.

Premonitions and dreams are often lumped together but in my opinion are very different. I believe premonitions are often the subconcious mind having worked out what is most ikely to happen in a certain situation based on the information that is available to the subconcious. While premontions can happen while sleeping that is not a requirement for them. Whereas you must be asleep to dream.

Vivid dreams are the first step toward lucid dreaming, if you can create a trigger and use it within your dream you will have a wonderful time.

As to whether you are confusing dreams for premonitions... only you can decide and then interpret that.

Having very vivid dreams probably means that you're a highly creative person. Do you get color and/or sound? Not everyone does, but creative (not necessarily artistic) people usually do.

Remembering your dreams in detail might be a sign that you're a lucid dreamer. Lucid dreamers are consciously aware that they're dreaming, and can often influence events in a dream. Try it sometime -- something small like changing the color of a flower or pulling a key out of your pocket to unlock a locked door.

Surreal imagery in dreams is perfectly normal. A dream proceeds from your subconscious, which doesn't follow the same rules as your rational conscious mind.

Premonitions are unlikely, but it's possible that your subconscious is trying to tell you something. Your subconscious can often solve problems that your conscious mind can't handle and/or process information that you're not consciously aware of knowing. Dreams are sometimes the method that your subconscious uses to clue you in on this stuff.

as a matter of fact our dreams are pictured in our minds, some time they do reflect what Had happened to us the whole day good or bad, this is called the childish day or night dreams. but, what we do see in our dreams either in the day or night time that narrates actually some small of big events or accidents of happiness or sadness and [ if the next day you happened to feel or experience the upper portion of the left or the right eye keep on winking] and that continue for almost 3 days, here we come to see. if the winking came from the left eye, then the person and all with God wish might face some difficulties ahead and if the right eye wink the person might expect better show.
some times dreams are linked to certain people or place or faces or linked to environmental nature such as [ Sea, fire, sky and so on] all these have different analysis.
the dreams what you are seeing short distance dreams and they should not confuse you at any level.

At last! Someone else with the same dram types. I dream every night. Vivid and very realistic. I have often had to ask people the next day if something happened or if it was in a dream. Sometimes I have stayed up for days for fear of dreaming. Finally, I took an interrest in dream interpretations. Once I had a general knowledge of what certain things symbolized, and how to view things and people in dreams in relation to my self, it became easier to deal with the more disturbing of my dreams.

I have often found them to be useful in figuring out what is REALLY going on in my life. Sometimes while I'm consious, I'm too busy thinking about what I should do next to really see the situation that I'm in. That's when my dreams come in handy.

Occasionally, I have dreams that come back to me through out the day in frightenning flashbacks. Sometimes just memory, but sometimes with such clear emotions, that I have to take a moment to re-evaluate where I am and what is really going on around me. Usually, once I have sufficiently decoded them, I'm able to leave them behind.

I can't say weather it's normal, but I hope that sharing my experiences will help you know that you are not the only one with such dreams. I hope that you are able to have peace with your dreams.

You should try this. put a journal and pen near where you sleep. Every morning when you wake up, do not move, stay in the same position you are. Grab your journal and pen and write down every little detail of your dreams. The reason why you should stay in the same position is beccause it helps you remeber your dreams more. This is a great way of making you remeber your dreams.

Dreams do mean something, they tell you how you feel and any current events that has happened to you. Lets say if you have a dream about being with the perfect guy, it probably means that you think its time to date or somethinmg.

I wish I knew the answer to that question. I've had the same thing happen to me. I've had dreams that felt like premonitions and weren't and ones that seemed like normal dreams that came true later. It's so hard to tell which ones are which. Just wait and see if they happen is all I can suggest.

Good luck to you. You might try putting together a dream diary so that you can track them. That way you may be able to determine later which type seem to come true.

Personally, I find that the more stress I experience the more vivid my dreams are. My pragmatic side realizes that stress will disturb sleep and I wake more frequently. As a result I remember my dreams instead of sleep through them.

However, there are those dreams that certain symbols really stick in my mind or recur in dreams. That is the subconscious trying to tell you something. The answer is usually more obvious than you might think.
