Yes, i experienced it both. im currently 7 months pregnant and i took a pregnancy test on feb.1 and it was negative and took another one on feb.23 after my period was 9 days late at the doctors office and it was positive. i also had the brown discharge too. My doctor said that it was probably dried up old blood. Everythings fine with the baby though. if i was you i would contact your doctor and have another pregnancy test done that way. you could get either the urine test or the blood test.

Not all pregnancy test are the same. Pregnancy tests can measure different levels of HCG. Some pregnancy tests will test as early as few days before your expected period and some after your period is due.

Depending on the brand of test you took - you may have tested with one that doesn't detect the HCG level yet. I have found this site to be very helpful in figuring out which tests to buy:

I have had good results with the cvs stick test since it detects the level as early as 25ui. Keep in mind however that even with a home pregnancy test it is not 100% accurate - most accurate would be a blood test from your doctor.

I did a couple weeks ago I took a test at my doctors office and then on the 23rd of july I found out I was pregnant at the hospital. could be because your HCG levels are not that high and blood test are supposeably more effective then urine test

Brown discharge?!!!! It could be old blood. I have never had a false preg test but I know a few that have. Both ways.
go have a check up!

Home pregnancy tests CAN be inaccurate! They can fool you sometimes. If you want to be sure, get a blood/urine pregnancy test.
