Tubal Ligation is not a form of birth control as such, if you get your tubes cut that means you can never have children again. The pill is a contraceptive that prevents you from getting pregnant by preventing the fertilisation of eggs in your ovaries. Wear protection too (have safe sex). Ofcourse the best method of prevention is abstinance, no risk then - but if you're married or hell bent on sex then the pill and safe sex. A Tubal is different, its a medical procedure and permenantly eliminates chance of pregnancy if I am right. Contraception or birth control are only temporary measures, a Tubal is permenant and irreversible (well, in most cases) and is a form of female steralization. After that you couldn't get pregnant even if you wanted to. Extremely difficult to reverse a tubal ligation and is dependent on if enough tubal tissue was left behind, also not 'all' the effects of the surgery are reversible, only some and so: be sure you are done having children.
The rest of the methods of contraception offered by everyone else pretty much cover it.

there are many birth control methods you can use now the one i suggest rather you are on a birth control or not is the condom it prevent not only pregnancy but also sexual transmitted diseases and you have the sponge you have the female condoms also you have the coil, threes the patch and shots available and last and the best is no sex at all and of course pleasing your self and loving yourself
and if you are married and faithful men can also get permanently fixed forgive me i dint recall the name of the procedure.
tuba ligation is when the tie the fallopian tubes or cut and burn them and they are not 100 percent a tuba ligation is a surgical procedure and you do have the freedom of never forgetting to take your birth control and the side effect I've heard of is the strong premenstrual syndrome! do good luck on your choosing which ever one fits your lifestyle!
i say again don't do anything with anyone with out the use of a condom!

tubal ligation is a very effective method of birth control, however it is very difficult to reverse, so be sure you are finished having kids.
Usually it is performed right after the birth of the last child you want to have.
Talk to your doctor otherwise, as I am not sure what they do to arrange for a tubal outside of pregnancy.
The ensuing discomfort is quite tender for about a week, but not debilitating.
Plan to take it very easy for about ten days.
