So far, in the history of humankind, nobody has found a way to stop being friends without hurting feelings.

Just be blunt about it, and get it over with. You can't walk off the subway without stepping on someone's toes.

I don't know that there will be a way to tell her this without hurting her feelings, but just tell her that you feel like you have grown apart, and your interests are different now.

The best way to break something to someone is to just tell them YOUR feelings. NEVER talk about THEM, only YOU. Your feelings can't be wrong. And they have to be actual FEELINGS too, not thoughts.

maybe you do need to hurt her feelings by telling her the truth about why she upsets you, If you don't tell her she wont know, communication is the key, so break it to her gently ,
