G'day Soni,
Thanks for your question.
Jawaharlal Nehru also called Pandit (Scholar or Teacher) Nehru, was one of the most important leaders of the Indian Independence Movement and, as the head of the Indian National Congress, became the first Prime Minister of India when India won its independence on August 15, 1947. Indira Gandhi was his daughter.
I enclose more sources about Nehru for your information.
Regards

The steel man, Sardar Vallabh Bahi Patel, should have been the first prime minister of the country. Gandhi played tantrums to make Pandit Nehru the first PM, Though, he is instrumental in starting industrialisation in India, is the root cause for the Kasmir problem.

he was Jawaharlal Nehru ....a.k.a Pandit Nehru .....a.k.a Chacha Nehru.
He was a dumbo, a weakling........gave away 40 % of kashmir happily to both china and pakistan and was willing to give away entire kashmir until another man by the name of some patel interfered.
He kept india bankrupt and extremely poor by his policies for 30 years and by using his foolish policy of non alignment kept India away from the entire world.
How stupid he was can be judged by the fact that he refused a permanent membership of security council being awarded to India.
In short if he wasnt the PM , India would have been a much better country by know.........in any standards !.
