Find yourself a girl, and settle down
Live a simple life, in a quiet town

Steady, as she goes
(Steady, as she goes)
Steady, as she goes
(Steady, as she goes)
So steady, as she goes

Your friends have shown a kink in the single life
You've had to much to think, now you need a wife

Steady, as she goes
(Steady, as she goes)
So steady, as she goes
(steady, as she goes)
Well here we go again
You found yourself a friend
That knows you well
But no matter what you do
You always feel as though you tripped and fell
So steady, as she goes

When you have completed what you thought you had to do
And your blood's depleted to the point of stable glue
Then you'll get along
Then you'll get along

Those are some of the lyrics. What do you think this song is about?

"Steady as she goes" is a term used by people who sail, meaning that the boat is on the correct course, with no problems ahead. So basically, according to society, if you "find yourself a girl and settle down" before "you've had too much to think", then you/the boat are "steady as she goes".

i think it's about settling down and enjoying life but living with the regret that you settled down and your friends didn't so you're missing out on fun. the tripped and fell part is the regret of settling down and not being able to go back to the single life. i could be wrong about the whole thing but that's my best guess.
